Embracing Change: Mercury's Strategic Shift from B2B to B2C

TL;DR: In April 2020, Mercury Technology Solution transitioned from B2B to B2C to align with our core beliefs and independently shape our product and market strategy. Despite challenges, including global events and the COVID-19 pandemic, we achieved notable successes, such as acquiring 27 new customers and improving delivery capabilities.


As the CEO of Mercury Technology Solution, embracing change is part of our DNA. In April 2020, we made a bold decision to pivot our business model from B2B to B2C. This strategic shift was driven by our desire to better align with our core beliefs and take control over our product and market roadmap.

The Transition: Challenges and Opportunities

Moving from a B2B to a B2C model presents unique challenges and opportunities. While it offers massive benefits like direct consumer engagement and control over our product lifecycle, it also requires a fresh approach to business strategy and operations.

Achievements Despite Adversity

Despite unexpected challenges in July and October 2020, along with the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, we are proud to report significant progress:

  1. Customer Growth: We welcomed 27 new customers across diverse industries, including architecture, community service, street fashion, food production, professional services, advertising, design, and online retail.
  2. Enhanced Delivery: Our average deployment timeline has improved significantly, reducing from 17 business days to just 11.
  3. Localized Solutions: We have developed localized app modules, including HR, MPF, and Accounting, to better serve the Hong Kong market.
